THANK YOU
I would like to personally thank Chad and Jamie for your hard work and helping The EpilepsyAssociation raise awareness. They put together an amazing Triathlon in Bartlesville, OK. on Saturday July 12, 2014. Chad and Jamie had a turn out of 115 participates and they helped with raising awareness for Epilepsy. Even though it was a very hot day, most of the town came out to support this event and “Thank You” for that. I know Chad and Jamie will work even harder next year to make this event bigger and better. Thanks again for your hard work and support.

I would also like to thank my team here at the Epilepsy Association for taking the time out of their busy lives to travel up to Bartlesville for this event. Thank You! Kevin, Rita, Lisa, Scott and Paul for your help and support. With team players like you guys, we can and will spread the word of Epilepsy which makes my job a little easier too.

IVORY N' OVATIONS
RAISES $2000 FOR EPILEPSY AWARENESS

Ivory ‘N Ovations raises $2,000 for Epilepsy Awareness

The studio of Jerri Headrick, better known as Ivory ‘N Ovations, conducted a piano practice fundraiser for the Epilepsy Association of Oklahoma. Since 1978, the Epilepsy Association of Oklahoma has been incorporated as a non-profit health agency with the mission of helping Oklahomans who have epilepsy and their families. They began as a support group which was part of the Wesley United Methodist Church in Oklahoma City. However the mission soon expanded to include the enlightening of all the people of Oklahoma about epilepsy, including those who have epilepsy and their families and friends as well as police, firemen, employers, schools, etc. Epilepsy affects over 3 million Americans of all ages—more than Multiple Sclerosis, Cerebral Palsy, Muscular Dystrophy and Parkinson’s disease. Epilepsy has also affected students in this piano studio. Historically, epilepsy research has been under-funded. Each year NIH spends $30 billion on medical research, but just 1/2 of 1% is spent on epilepsy.

The fundraiser began in September and concluded the first week of December. Back in September, students enlisted sponsors. The sponsors pledged an amount based on the student’s number of days of piano practice. We raised around $2,000 for the cause of Epilepsy awareness and education. The funds raised will go toward the Speaker’s Bureau Program, Education and Awareness Program, Support Groups and the Annual Epilepsy Youth Camp. All of this money stays right here in Oklahoma. Thank you to all sponsors!!

Fundraiser awards included: Most Sponsors enlisted: Ava Carter, Sarah Swint Most money raised by a single student: Brinlee Williamson, Maridian Bales Most practice recorded: Emily Smotherman

Thank you to all students and parents! The students involved in the fundraiser were: Derek Parker, Blake Seymour, Daniel Phyillaier, Casey Phyillaier, Kendyl Woodruff, Cassidy Crabb, Brinlee Williamson, Mason Bell, Clara Duncan, Jamie Musick, Madison Musick, Lindsay Biscoe, Sarah Swint, Josie Kennemer, Trey Cotts, Kade Chapman, Alyssia Cotts, Sierra Bowdre, Rachel Epp, Baylee Lakey, Wyatt Hill, Emily Lowrance, Emily Smotherman, Ava Carter, Hannah Shook, Chelsea Clark, Maridian Bales, Brooke Tignor

Headrick has been teaching private piano for over 20 years. She has taught in Sayre for 6 years. She has a Masters of Music in Piano Performance and enjoys teaching beginner through advanced levels of piano. Please contact Mrs. Headrick at 580-729-1503 or 928-8818 to inquire about private piano lesson times available.
